According to the documentary “Ivory Tower”, education is more and more turning into a business. As the system of education is mostly money-oriented, the quality of education has fallen drastically and higher education does not guarantee a job or any success in later life. Often it is the opposite – former students have to pay back massive loans that last for decades. Recently the amount of loans given out for students exceeded one trillion dollars.
Universities compete with each other by building fancier pools, halls, party places (and similar) to attract students. According to Toronto University psychology professor Jordan B Peterson, the contemporary higher education in the U.S. (and probably Canada) has failed in every field it needs to provide society with. A change in the overall education system is urgently needed and inevitable in long term.
